Canvas Gallery Wrap

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Canvas Gallery Wraps are popular in art galleries, offices or in the home.  Your photo or artwork can be gallery-wrapped so that some of your image is printed around the sides of the frame to add extra depth and dimension.  Canvas prints are stretched over 5cm x 5cm thick Redwood frame, which is individually hand made for every print.

When choosing the right photo for you canvas make sure the subject is clear and will fit the size you’ve chosen.  As we use 5cm thick frames it means that 5cm on all sides of your image will be gallery-wrapped around the sides of the frame.  For example to get a 50cm x 40cm canvas, your image will be printed at 60cm x 50cm to allow for 5cm on all fours sides to be gallery-wrapped around the frame.

Photo Consultation

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

If you’re not sure whether your photo is suitable to be printed as a canvas print or block mounted, then email it to us for a free photo consultation.  We’ll check your photo or artwork to find out how much it can be enlarged by without losing any quality, and we’ll also send you a list of possible print sizes for your photo.

When printing on canvas you have the option of having it gallery-wrapped so that some of your photo will be printed around the sides of the frame.  This creates a fantastic finish, but as our frames are 5cm x 5cm thick it means that 5cm of your image on all four sides won’t be visible head on.  If you’re interested in this we will send a proof highlighting exactly how much of your photo would be gallery-wrapped around the frame.

Canvas Prints Review by Digital Camera Magazine

Monday, October 20th, 2008

We recently supplied Digital Camera Magazine with a 50x50cm gallery-wrapped stretched canvas for review and we’re delighted by the magazines comments.  Here is an extract from the review: -

As well as offering block mounts and poster prints along with gallery-wrap canvases, DesignerPrint also has two million stock images for you to choose from, thanks to its links with the Fotolia image library.

Uploading your own photos is a simple affair, using the company’s web-based upload tool. From there, Giclee prints are created on reassuringly thick 340gsm canvas and stretched over a handmade Redwood pine frame. The standard frame has a 5x5cm profile and a slim-line 2.5cm frame is also available.

There’s a wide range of 14 canvas sizes to choose from and custom sizes are available on request. On arrival, our test canvas was stretched tight as a drum, with an impressively high standard of finish.
